How the G702 summary lines fit together

- Net change by change orders.
- Contract sum to date (line 1 + line 2).

- Total earned less retainage (line 4 - line 5).

Where pay app math usually goes wrong
- Previous certificates not matching what was actually approved last period.
- Change orders added to the G703 but not to line 2 (or vice versa).
- Retainage calculated on this period’s work instead of total completed to date.
- Percent complete over 100% on a line after a change order.

Is this an official AIA form?

What is the difference between the G702 and G703?
The G702 is the one-page summary (the application and certificate for payment). The G703 continuation sheet lists every schedule of values line and how much of each is complete. Line 4 of the G702 comes from the G703 totals.
